Turns out to be really hard.
One of the grooviest things about elk hunting is that it forces you to be out in the beautiful wild during those times of day when amazing things are often happening in the sky. The problem is that you’re not there to photograph the awesomeness. You’re there to find something that doesn’t want to be found and shoot it. Which turns out to be almost impossible.
And when you do have an elk on the ground there’s a whole new set of urgent tasks. And a new river of thoughts running through your head like: “I can’t believe that just happened” and, “ look how big this thing is” and, “wait, how far away is the truck?” and “how can I talk Sam into carrying it back by himself?” “maybe if I “sprain” an ankle” and, “maybe we should just eat it here.”
Found some time to take this one though.
